The first Series of 2010 was quite the success. We had a great turnout, considering that college football was still going and there was a threat of nasty weather (one of the greatest things about Columbia is the way it reacts to weather, or the threat there of). If you didn’t have a chance to make it, you missed a special evening. The poetry was amazing, as was the music provided by cellist Heidi Carey.
The February Series (aka FOM Series 2/’10) is already put in place and is gaining steam. We have tapped into the brain of local graphic artist/fine artist/musician W. Heyward Sims for the February 4th show. Titled “Cagematch: Clarity vs. Chaos,” it will feature works that detail one young man’s quintessential mental quest to discover purpose, direction, and meaning in a complicated modern world plagued by confusion and misinformation. You can expect this show to have a real edge to it, be confrontational, and to make statements on various levels. I Hope to see you there February 4th from 6-9.
February is a busy month for us, as we are involved with the What’s Love fest held at 701 Whaley along with the FOM Series and other events in the making. The What’s Love fest is being held on Saturday the 13th and is an event not to be missed. Last year’s show drew over 1300 people and looks even bigger this year. If you don’t have any plans for Valentine’s day, or even if you do, make plans to drop in to 701 Whaley for the spectacle. And look for our booth, as we will be showing off the hottest eyewear you can find in the state.
Stay tuned for info on other events being put together for the end of February and March. Spring is always an exciting time for Frame of Mind and Columbia. And you never know what we are going to do next.
